Arrow follow up: variable resistor replacement

i discovered today that the 2nd gen idle resistor does not function unless the tps has been adjusted to a certain tightness.

once this was done i replaced the idle resistor with a 5k ohm potentiometer, soldered to the origional plug.

to make a long story short, it works. COOL! my neighbors looked at my funny cuz i was all WOOHOO and jumped up and down..

i can also help anyone who wants a brand new resistor, im considering doing a service which will cost about 10$ + s/h ... you send me your old worn resistor, and i can attach a brand new shiny one to it.. still not sure of the cost, b/c of needing random little materials.

its a 3 pole pot yes. range is actually 4800 ohms on the multimeter, but its rated at 5k. its a 300 degree turny thing (sry im new to this electronics stuff)

its been able to give me full adjustability as far as i can tell.. changing it gives me an idle range of 500-1300 with fuel adjustment alone, so its basically functioning like the old one. right now i have it wrapped in electrical tape and put in a film canister to keep it clean. i also have it mounted next to my breather filter to keep it cooler, since its not exactly rated to high temperatures. if it goes out, im sure ill know.

basically, if youve got the tools and assorted stuff handy, the pot itself is like 5$ at an electronics store, make sure you get a linear one, not an audio curve. radioshack doesnt usually carry these.
