fogs randomly stopped working
fogs randomly stopped working
ok i have a stock s5 fc na oem fogs oem switch autozone relay. anyhow my fogs were working fine for a couple of months and all of a sudden i noticed they weren't on. i checked the fuses, solder joints on the relay, the switch, the bulbs and everything seemed fine. i'm asking for some help here since i've nowhere else to turn
. what else should i look for? thanks for any help

So you have proper voltage to the switch? And you don't have voltage coming out of the switch which runs to the fog lights? If that were the case then it should be apparent what the problem is.
This happened to me a week ago and I went through the same process of trying to narrow it down. The fogs would work as daytime running lights, but now when i used night lights or when i switched them.
Nothing looked burnt or shorted out which made the suspect a sneeky little son of a gun. Some of the grease inside the switch mechanism fouled the contacts to the point where it wouldnt work anymore. That simple! Ohm out your switch to check if thats the problem

Easy check first: Make sure you don't have your high beams on (dimmer/turn signal lever). On some cars the fog lights get turned off when switching to high beams.
If that's not it, bypass the switch using a jumper wire between the two wires going to the switch, if it's a simple two pin switch. But I doubt it.
Find a wiring diagram and check if the switch is getting 12V from a source to the proper pin. If it is, use a jumper wire to send those 12V to where they're supposed to go (see wiring diagram). If the fogs turn on, it's the switch, but ohm it (as mentioned in post above) just to be sure - which means check that there's no resistance (0 ohms) between the proper terminals when the switch is set to on.

well gents it is my fog light switch that is bad
. i jumped the connection as stated above and they worked flawless i attached the switch and nada. i checked the switch with my multimeter and it showed no continuity. so i need a new switch unless i can fix this one. thanks for all the help much appreciated
