Are you guys running 2.5 inch piping on the hot and cold side? Are you running this size piping on a stock turbo? If so, you must have a reducer coming off of the turbo right (since the exit of the turbo is much smaller than 2.5)?

I'm asking because I have a bnr stage 2 turbo but the outlet of the turbo is only 2 inches so I was gonna keep the pipe 2 inches to the intercooler (my intercooler is the ebay one with the 3" in and out). I was gonna go 2.75" piping from the intercooler to my Higgi tb piece which I measured at 2.75".

It would be easier to just run 2.5 all around but wouldn't I get more lag and slow the velocity of the air coming out of the turbo?

It dont matter under boost like that. NA it would make a differeance.

Ask my GF its her car.

That pic is on my blog. I dont hae any more pics from earlier then that. I lost them.

I ran 3in hot and cold. Well because 3 to 2.5 silicone reducers were like 20$ each and 3in pipe was the same price. I was going to upgrade turbo soon but never did. Also the turbo outlet is 2in so I went to an exhaust shop and had them cut me 6in piece of 2in pipe and stretch one side to 3in.

If you can tell from my pics, I've got the AFM in the I/C piping as well....I've yet to have it boosted like that, and I have ?

How much pressure did you run through the AFM in the piping like that? Im running a T04-S and have a sinking feeling that 20psi is going to blow that thing to bits

so it runs fine like that with the stock turbo? Not too much lag or anything?

thanks

It makes no differance. No lag nothing its normal. The door only opens so far so when it fully opens it wont matter if your pushing 5psi or 15psi its still fully open.

since we are covering the tropic of piping kits and core's i got a few questions about these i would like to go with 2.5'' piping for my intercooler my HP goal will be 400rwhp is 2.5'' piping still good to use with that much HP and also that ssautochrome FMIC that fit's in the stock location and bolts to the stock holes is that a big enough IC will that support 400rwhp

does anyone know the dimensions of the Greddy v spec IC core so the SSAC IC is big enough does anyone know the quality of it and if it cools the air sufficiantly and is it restrictive at all or does the air flow through it nice

Here's a post from another forum I made just after we completed the FMIC on my car.

Oh my, things have changed under the bonnet a bit, lets take a closer look shall we..

Throttle body side

Turbo side

A little something extra we got around to adding aswell

And the biggest headfuck of the day award goes to...

Overall awesome job, took 2 days to complete, would of been a day and a bit if we didn't have to **** around with the rats nest for most of day 2.
Most surprising thing was when it started up fine first try 8)

Pre-preparation for this install is battery moved to the back, removal of AC and get rid of as much emissions crap as possible just to make it easier. Also, if running standard management get rid of the rats nest (aka solenoid rack) as we found this out the hard way, also requires a TB adaptor and some larger holes punched.

it's the ssautochrome 12x24x3. Usually I don't endorse getting things through ssauto chrome but this core looks to be very solid and has good welds . Also mounts right up with no brackets and uses the stock bolts! The piping kit is one from ebay that had tbolt clamps and was supposed to come with cilicone reinfoced couplers but didn't however the kit took about 2.5 months to come in so there isn't much I can do about it (I'm just happy it came in)

What size piping are you using? That intercooler looks real good. I was gonna save for a Greddy fmic, but after seeing this thread it looks like I can $ave money this way.

2.5" aluminum piping. make sure to get cilicone reinforced couplers and tbolt clamps. Expect to pay extra for (2) 3" to 2.5" couplers for the intercooler along with any other couplers that you might need that aren't straight. I needed a 45* 2.5 to 2.5 couple and the other two as mentioned above. Also will be beed rolling my ends so that they don't pop off at 20-22psi.

Yeah it's the ssac and no i haven't run it yet. I still need to brake the engine down and powder coat everything along with side housing resurface and I'm going to add extra dowel pins. I'm also going to add meth injection as well as i need to finish my stainless steel braided fuel lines and oil return line. Thanks for the complement but it's only in the beginning mock up stage.
