Fluidyne vs Koyo

After research i've came down to two radiators the fluidyne and the koyo models. The mazdaspped unit is a little out of my range. From what i can fint the Koyo core is bigger at 53mm compared to the fluidynes 38mm. But fluidynes unit is suppose to cool 20 to 25% better then stock while the koyo with its gargantuas core only cools 20 to 30% better. Seems like at 15mm bigger it would get more then a extra 5%. Another thing is the Koyo is bigger and cheaper which i like but am sort of skeptical of. Is Fluidynes product just more expensive or is there a manufacturing difference in the two that makes the fluidyne better? Last but not least there seems to be a fan shroud mounting kit needed to put the Koyo into a stock FC, has anyone used this kit and how well does it work. Last but not least whats the best price you've found on either of these so far?

Thanks
Stati

This has been talked about many times bro.
They are both great units. I have the KOYO because I got a great deal on it.

In the end, I think it comes down to the money you want to spend...................

I have the Koyo and I love it. My temp gauge never get to 1/2 anymore even when sitting in 80 stop/go traffic. Its all very high quality too.

As for it fitting with the stock fan/shroud; I dont know. I bought an E-fan when I got it.

One thing I would like to point out is this. For ALL import applications, Fluidyne has decided to use the 38mm core. I called and asked them why? They told me that they found the 38mm core to be the most efficient at cooling, given the small amount of space usually found in imports. (I would like to point out that while this is something that they tell you...for them to utilize 38mm cores for ALL import applications,....this is a cost savings measure. It just means that they don't have to manufacturer/order as many different sized cores).

For me, I picked the Koyo. The price was definitely cheaper. While the welds on the Koyo may not be cleaner or pretty, I really don't expect much of a temperature difference between the two.

Fluidyne is a single pass rad.
Koyo is a double pass rad.
Koyo is better and cheaper!
No brainer.

So even with the cost-cutting measures, Fluidyne still charges an arm and a leg for the Radiator? Screw that. I'm getting a koyo. :P

does it fit with the original fan shroud and clutch fan? if i got one i would like to retain the belt driven fan. i ask because the koyo looks like twice as wide as the stock radiator.

That's not a measure of a radiator's performance. You should be able to do that easily with a stock radiator. An undersized radiator only becomes a problem at high loads when much more heat needs to be rejected.
