AT fluid loss, lots of smoke, poor engine performance
I wanted to share a repair I just made to my car. I developed some smoke which turned into tons of smoke. I started having poor idle performance. And I was loosing about 1/2 quart of automatic transmission fluid a day, but there was no sign of a leak. It turned out to be my vacuum diaphragm (aka vacuum modulator) on the transmission. The fluid was being drawn into the engine where it was burned. The part cost $63 and took 10 minutes to install. A pretty easy fix. It runs great now. All I need to do now is change the plugs and the car will run like new. Not bad for 143,000 miles.
