Floor in 4th gear, turbo pushes 6.5 lbs, engine revs like clutch is engaged?
Well, I'll be coasting at a nice 35 mph in 4th gear. Well, for ***** and giggles, I put it to the floor. Boost kicks in, but by the time I get to 50 mph, I'm at 5.5ish rpms. When I let off the gas, my rpms instantly drop to 3.5-4k. So it seems like I have the clutch partially engaged, but it's not! Does this mean my clutch is going out, or is this normal in turbos?
PS, if this matters, 1988 TII. I can get a video after work if you guys want to see it in action.

Would the clutch still slip if I never touched it while i was in fourth? Like I said, i was just cruising, foot on the rester, and then just floored it. So would the clutch still be the culprit?

yea thats what i meant, in gear off the clutch and floor it. rpms go up but speed doesnt as much as it should then like when you let off it dropped back down.
a non slipping clutch would stay at the rpm you were at and slowly fall after you let off gas as long as you werent braking.

OK, see, I figured, because it acts just like a slipping clutch would, but I was a little confused, since my foot wasn't near the clutch, and I was just shifting it into gear, so I didn't know if it was indeed the clutch. I guess I'm going to need another one of those alot sooner than I thought :O

if your foot was on the clutch it would be disengaged but since your in gear and foot off the clutch its deffinetly slipping (trying to be engaged but failing under load).
I imagine the car will much more fun to drive when your getting your full percentage of power to the ground instead of loosing it in the clutch.

Performance if you want it or need it depends on driving style (autox or whatever)
for my daily driver vert I just go with oem because thats all i really need but either way its better than a slipping clutch.
And for how much time do you have it depends how much you slip it but if your easy on it you *should* have plenty of time as long as you dont beat it. But as soon as you can afford it then you ought to do it.
