floods when warm
floods when warm
ok so i just got myself an 87 rx7 non turbo motors all stock. it starts up not bad when fully cold and runs decent but once it starts getting some heat in the hoses it floods out and dies and wont start again till its fully cold again. i tried changing the coolent sensor (behind the water pump) with no results. it has sat for a few months if that helps at all. its startin to drive me nuts so any help would be great.
thanks

Second, check your injectors.
Do specific maitenance on it right now (replace, fuel filter, oil filter, coolant, etc) for all the items that you haven't had personal experience replacing yourself.
sorry forgot to say in my first post i never hear the fuel pump turn off its always on when the key in on. ill check the compression and by checking the injectors do you mean check the resistance
Remember you're dealing with a car that might be legally able to drink, so go through and do a tune up. Try to isolate the problem you have by looking at compression. Usually when it's warm the compression should be good, but while it's cold there should be some issue with sealing if you had a stuck seal--it's still wise to get those numbers though. Beyond that you may have an injector or two stuck open so it vents all the excess fuel into the rotor housing and so you have to wait for all that fuel to evaporate.
As for the fuel pump I do believe it's supposed to stay on when switched to on. It's how it builds pressure in the system--however I can't recall off the top of my head if it's supposed to stay on once pressure is reached (if there's a valve to keep it at pressure), I want to say yes (that there's no valve keeping pressure and so constant fuel needs to be pumped into the system to keep it at pressure).
