flooding all the time

hey guys.. VERY VERY new to the rx7 world. i recently aquired an 86 rx7 {free} the story was he was driving down the interstate and the car just shut off. would not start back. so he gave it to me after sitting for a year. IM NEW . so bear with me. i diagnosed the leading coil pack was not firing, replaced now i have spark at all four plugs.it turns over and trys to catch {so close}. i pulled the top 2 plugs and there soaked with gas, bottom 2 not so much.. did the deflooding process about 10 times and still floods after each try. i have new plugs, leading coil, plug wires, fuel filter. fuel pressure is 65 psi. am i not deflooding properly or is there another issue? please help.....

When you deflood, try almost draining the battery. I mean, crank it for like 10-15 seconds. Also make sure the plugs are dry dry dry. And this sounds dumb, but it happened to me: make sure the injectors are plugged in and seeing 12v at the ECU.

A much more simple solution: have you tried to pushstart it?

Possibly old and dirty injectors causing the problem, or low compression?

i havent check the voltage at the injectors. i did take them out and visually inspected them. this is the weird part. i unplugged the fuel pump deflooded it,sprayed some starting fluid and it fired up. hooked the pump back up and it floods. i drained the battery everytime i test it. recharge it for the next time. im thinking fpr or faulty injector. i only see 2 injectors. is there more?

yup there are 4 injectors. the two you see are the secondary which open up at 3,800 rpm. the primary are under the intake manifold and that needs to be removed in order to see them or whatever you need to do with them.

My vote is for dirty primary injectors sticking open. A sonic cleaning for all the injectors should be a priority for a car that has sat for a year anyhow.

the primary injectors are kind of a pain to get too but not too bad. unbolt the four bolts on the intake manifold and then go around where the BAC valve is where your oild goes and get the two bolts under neath the dynamic chamber. you have to hunhook almost everything and then just jiggle it until you can pull it off. you'll see the primary injectors they are fairly close to eachother. becareful pulling them off, you might remove the tip.. like i did.

Your 65psi of pressure isn't helping either, isn't stock 43?

I'm guessing the 65 psi number is referring to dead heading the fuel delivery line, rather than teeing a gauge into it. The manual says this number should be 71-92 psi actually.

With a gauge tee'd in, @ 0 manifold pressure fuel pressure should be about ~40-43 psi & at idle (15-20 inches vacuum) ~28-32 psi through my own tests. The FSM spec @ 0 manifold pressure is 34.1-39.8 psi.

EDIT: the S5 FSM has a lot more fuel system tests than the S4 manual, so use it instead.
