flapper on exhaust maifold

Im making this post for a friend, he called me and asked me to. The details are a little bit Slim, so when he gets a chance he will update it.

but the question is... there is a flapper on the ehaust manifold, it looks kind of like a wastegate flapper, Where should it be going, should it be plugged up? he said it was just dangeling there.. The manifold is a s4 turbo manifold

thanks for your help in advance

It's the twin scroll system.

Need more info. Is the manifold on the engine? Is the engine running? Is the flap still connected to its actuator? Is the actuator's vac line connected to a vac line? Are all the solenoids on top of the engine still in place? Have you looked this up in the FSM?

if you aren't getting boost then it isn't the twin scroll that is faulty but it will cause extra lag and lower boost levels.

you can cut it out and weld a bolt in it's place, which is what i did or you can get an actuator and hook it up properly and working again.

i suggest not shortcutting it, i don't know what type of metal the flapper is made of or if a weld will hold and stick to it. i would rather not risk damaging my turbo if it were to break loose and have to go through the turbo blades.

i'm just saying, don't underestimate the heat going through the manifold from a rotary.
