flames=detonation???

I got a '90 TII with 720cc secondaries, rewired walbro fuel pump, and a untuned safc. I shoot flames every once in awhile in only one side of the exhaust. And i ahve to rev to like 2500 to pull out from a dead stop. ITs like i dont get enough gas. I was wondering if i was detonating when i shoot flames.

no, its unused fuel lingering in the exhaust that burns off.

No, it means you're probably running pig rich with an open exhaust.

ya at high rpms it gets a pretty rich mixture espically with the fuel mods you have, when you let off the gas to shift and the tb closes for an instant a little extra gas is put in and gets burned off out the tailpipes from what i understand but tune that safc and lean it out a little you should get some good gains on that turbo and should loose the flames or atleast make them not quite as apparent.

Thats why you're running rich and shooting flames. Get an A/F meter and lower mix on the safc if you cant get it in to be tuned properly.
