fixing rust spots, need advice

hey guys i am fixing some small rust spots on my car right now and i have finished...but now the areas that i painted show up soo much because there is a couple more coats of paint than the rest of the body...i have a white car so it looks like every spot i fixed just has a piece of paper glued over it lol...little help? what can i do to make it look original?

1600 grit wet/dry sandpaper. Wet it, then lightly go over the spot till flush. Take your time, and it will pay off!! I did this on my 94 S-10 Pickup once, and aside from the fact the paint color was a little off, it looked great!!
