Fixed my engine shutter problem
I had an issue where my engine would shutter / vibrate while engaging the clutch in 1st or reverse gear. It shook the car pretty badly. As I suspected from reading some posts on here, it turns out that there were 'hot spots' on both my flywheel and pressure plate, areas where they would grip moreso than normal. This caused the clutch to want to 'hop' due to the changing levels of friction, creating the vibrations I felt. Now that I got my flywheel resurfaced and replaced my clutch (pressure plate, disc, throwout bearing, pilot bearning, pilot bearing seal) my car runs fine without any vibrations whatsoever.
Initially I had tried replacing the transmission center mount, but that didn't really seem to make too much of a difference despite the fact that the mount was very worn. I may soon replace my engine mounts just because they, too, are getting old.
