Fixed ghetto intake, now won't run..

When i bought my car it had an egay intake that had half a roll of duct tape holding it on, and was rubbing against pieces that looked important. So I took the intake off, shortened it a bit and took the tape off and replaced it with silicone hose and put a bracket holding the intake off the important stuff. When i finish i try to start my car. It turns over and right when it starts up it dies. No throttle response ONCE so ever. Just starts and dies, the car was somewhat running just the other day.
