Fix loose passenger seat rail?
The passenger seat rattles forward and back about half an inch when it is put all the way back... the rattling decreases to nothing as it moves forward to its farthest forward setting.
I took out the seat... the rail with the handle coming off of it is loose... when its in the pushed back position.... the other rail is fine.
Is there any way to fix these rails? (its really annoying having the seat jump around every time the car goes over a little bump....)
Or is there any place that sells new rails? $$?
Thanks

I know its obvious but are all the bolts tightened all the way and aligned correctly? Is it the rail that is bolted to the floor or the rail that is sliding on the bottom of the seat when you take the seat out?

anybody....
just to make it clearer... its only one of the rail sets... the one with the handle on it.. the two peices of that rail have play between them.... (the peice that bolts to the seat and the peice that bolts to the floor are the two parts im talking about)... and they only have play when the seat is pushed back

Maybe somehow the lengths of the rails are not matched to the point. I remember the rail closest to the center console sits closer to the front of the car then the rail on the passenger window side. Sorry if I am not clear.
Also is it possible that while taking out the seat you only unbolted one side and possibly tilted the seat while the otherside was attached? Maybe this could be the cause of the play in the rail? Was your seat always like that or after you removed it?

It was always like that... has been getting worse.... normaly i cant hear it with the radio on... but i was keeping to radio off to listen to my suspention cuz i just did work on it...
anyway, i went and used a dremel cutoff wheel to cut two notches in the outer rail, and tipped them in to try and reduce the play... seems to have worked... i dont know how it will stand up to vibration and people sitting in the seat... but ill see
