First Time at the Track Kinda Disapointing

I went to the track today for the first time in my life.
Im 18 and I own a 1990 Rx7 Turbo, mods are apexi intake, apexi bov , 2.5 inch downpipe that leads to two cats and a shitty can muffler.

My best run was a 15.108

R/T... .751
60.... 2.394
330... 6.400
1/8.... 9.779
MPH... 72.20
1000.. 12.681
1/4.... 15.108
MPH.... 92.33

The first couple of times I feel on my face like it boged badly and they where high 15 second pass.

The last run of the day I had a pretty good launch and then i missed third gear but i still ran a 15.3

Well it was a good learning experience and I knew if i had a few more pass's I would of been in the 14's easy.

Future mods, I got a S-AFC in the mail, walbro fuel pump. and a AVC-R boost controller coming in a few weeks.

Drag racing is MUCH harder than it appears. 15.0 is STOCK. You should be in the 14's once you get your driving down

Hey dont make fun of my driving skilz

It was my first time I was nervice and i think my clutch is sliping.
Well if I dont take off hard and shift quick to 2nd i get a nice chirp and it takes off, BUT if I take off hard like drop it or slip the clutch at 4.5k it seems to slip once i slam it in second. like it will go to higher rpms for a split second and slowly go back down and the clutch will grab and the rpms will start to raise again.

its a pain in the ***. it doesnt chirp second this way either and it caused me to loose against a 5.0 by half a car.

Hey Gecko 7 he wasnt making fun of your driving skills. Hes just saying that once you get the hang of it your times will improve. Learning to drive your car is more important than any upgrades that you do to your car. Well more important than most.

With all the rubber on trak at the take off point, did you get lots more traction then on regular roads? Good luck with getting the shifting techneics (sp?) down.

I kinda like living in the middle of nowhere, LONG flat striaghts, and ALOT of sharp tuns, just like a race track, only i don't got, are twisties, ohh and noone is ever out on these roads past 6:00PM, another benifit of living Around nothing but old ppl. I can lots of Strip and AutoX practice.

hey don't sweat it

15.1 with a 2.3 60ft
means if you get a 1.9-2.1 would put you solidly into the 14's

I just went Friday for the first time. I only got one 2 runs in. I had no idea what to do, but is fairly simple.

1st run
1.304--------Reaction
2.224--------60 ft
6.234--------330 ft
9.594--------1/8 ET
73.77--------1/8 mph
12.455-------1000 ft ET
14.897-------1/4 ET
92.74---------1/4 mph

2nd run
.947----------Reaction
2.541--------60 ft
6.723--------330 ft
10.101------1/8 ET
73.88--------1/8 mph
12.953-------1000 ft ET
15.383-------1/4 ET
92.96---------1/4 mph
I was kinda hoping for better, but I am happy for my first time (my other first time was a nice 10 sec pass haha)
The guy I ran against ran a 12.57 and 12.52. It was a 98 (I think) Trans-Am (only 2 nose-vents)

I had know idea the lights went that fast.
On the 1st run all through 1st gear the wheels were hopping like crazy and I could have shifted a little later. I was kinda hyped up, and just thrown off by the whole scene.
On the 2nd run I tried to take off lighter, and bogged down to about 1k (no hop haha).

Overall I had a great time. I seen a friend, I havent seen in years, with his WRX ran a 14.0 There were endless other nice rides. These are my mods,
87 RX-7 TurboII
1,200,00 miles 80,000 on engine
11 P.S.I
No A/C
Down/Midpipe
APEXi N1 Duals
acingBeat FCD
ACT 6-puck Clutch
RB 12 lb. Aluminum Flywheel
Mazdatrix Short Throw Shifter
AutoMeter Boost & A/F Guages

Today I took my car to install dual underdrive pullys, a new O2 senser, remove the airpump and ACV, and A/C condensor.
While I was there we noticed the there was a large leak at the turbo inlet duct, fixed that.
Now there is a lot more low end power, faster spool up and just overall more responsive.
I need to go back soon, And try for a better time.
