For the first time since I bought the car...

I was able to hit redline while in gear and got to hear that glorious buzzer! The previous owner rebuilt the engine and now I'm stuck trying to find whats up with this car! I spent most of today working on it.

The work is not finished yet though. I've been having a problem with hitting redline. The car simply won't do it in gear. The power seriously cuts out bad ~6.5k and it takes much longer to redline than it should. The gas mileage is ~11mpg and the idle surges from 200-1000rpms.

Today I did some work with checking the intake for leaks and checking for vaccum leaks. I was unable to find anything so I moved onto changing the oil.

When I had the car warmed up I checked the TPS and adjusted it to on the dot perfect. I used a Multimeter to check for voltage between the two plugs until I only had voltage at only one spot.

When I started teh beast it idled perfectly (sorta) at 1k. When I put a load on the engine by pressing the brake it went back to surging. I took it out on a deserted street and was able to hit redline in first.

Tomorrow...

I'm going to try to set the idle via haynes manual way. The problem I'm running into however is the fact that they want me to short a connector to itself by the battery. My S4 has a plug with two connectors my S5... has a plug with only one. XD

I would also like to check into the BAC and check the timing. The BAC should be easy enough but I don't have a timing light for the timing. Anyone have any ideas? While I'm setting the timing I'm also going to check the CAS to see if its good.

What am I missing? I really want to get this car back on the road running good!

Thanks,
Mason

I checked the CAS and it passes. I'm trying to get my hands on a timing light from a buddy sometime this week.

However, I checked the BAC and did NOT pass the test. I checked it with a MM and came up with 13ohms and the manual says that it shouldn't go above 12.3ohms. Also, I tried to jumper the BAC and couldn't get it to click at all.

So, that should help the idle problem but I don't think it will fix the power in the high rpm's. Any ideas? My 5th/6th ports and VDI are working and TPS is still set dead on.
