First Time Premixer
First Time Premixer
I know the general answer to this is somewhere on the Forum, but I'd appreciate some specific help.
I am premixing as a precaution on my beloved 90 GTU. My mechanic said to add about 5 ounces of two-stroke (2-cycle? Is there a difference?) with each fill up. I like Valvoline products, and I bought Valvoline 2-stroke motorcycle oil in the black bottle. But I've noticed it doesn't say TWC3 (what does that mean?).
My question is: Is this Valvoline 2-Stroke a good premix oil for street driving with an OMP, or should I toss this stuff and look for TWC3 oil?
Thanks.

2-stroke = 2-cycle. You do need TC-W3 spec oil though, for these engines. I know Valvoline makes one, and so do Mobil-1, Castrol, and a host of other brands. I don't know that its necessarily "bad" to run this stuff (not an expert) but I know you *should* be running TC-W3 stuff, which is just a spec for how well it remains suspended in the gas, and how well it lubricates AFTER being injected (e.g. when you are coasting w/o injecting premix for a little while, etc...). TC-W3 provides the max (currently) protection.
