First Post - Bought a '88 RX-7

Hi All,
This is my first Mazda, let alone my first RX-7 - it an '88 convertible and to be honest I don't know what is under the hood. If it doesn't have pistons - I'm scared

I didn't pay for a ppi so all I know is it seems to run fine to me. The top is torn in two places. I was thinking of having two patchs sewn in. Is there a better way to repair?

Is there any engine maintainance I should have checked/replaced before I use it as my daily driver???
Thanks in advance. Here's a pic of our new ride;

Congrats on the car. Just do you normal maitenance as you would on a piston car. Nothing really different. Definitely check out https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/faq-fc-frequently-asked-questions-2nd-generation-rx-7-a-181219/ which is the FC FAQ sticky at the top of this section. Welcome to the site.

And my 88 GXL is my first RX and first Mazda.

Good information. Mostly common sense stuff, change all the fluids & "wear items" that you can't check easily (fuel filter, O2 sensor, etc).
