First port job

I was porting the intermediate housing and the trip of the carbide burr broke off causing me scratch up the surface of the housing a little. Look at the picture and tell me if thats useable or there is anything I can do to fix it. This one is an S5 TII housing, but I do have some S4 NA housings, so maybe I can use those instead.

Outch!

I would get another housing and try again. I went through the scratching phase when porting my engine. The phase went away after two ports.

Try covering the surface of the housing in a thick layer of duct tape next time. I have saved many housings from looking like that using this technique. Good job, and just keep practicing.

Im getting another inter. housing from Kevin and try it again. I just called up Mazdatrix and they said for the exhuast you just go down and to the sides as far as the sleeve.... so I dont need templates for that. Here is a picture of my side plates... looking at my ports so far how do they look, and how much power increase do you think?

I'd use it!

I would go over it with some sandpaper to get rid of the hard edges, as the side seals will be going over them. The critical spots are in the middle and the outer edge - since you're not in either, it should be fine.

Boy, does that go counter with everyone's advice.

took it to atkins(down the street), they looked at it and said its too deep, cant use it. They also said becides that that I went out to the sides a tiny bit, and that I would have problems with oil and corner seals. Learned so much doing this stuff I can do it easly without templates. Atkins showed me how I can tell how far I can go. They also looked at my front plate and said that its at .06 and the limit is .03 so I cant use it. Do you guys know a good place to get them lapped? Atkins doesnt do it.
