88 rx7 convertible...of course, no power. I want to gut the cats but heard that I need to leave the small air pipe off the cat to make the ports work correctly? Anyway...I'm doing a full exhaust but having my muffler guy build it without cats. Suggestions? Ideas? What should I do next to increase performance. I've got a 5-speed and the car just seems to have no power under 3500 rpm. Any help would be great.

My setup is: Race pipe from Rx7.com, custom 2.25 dual catback, removed 5th & 6th port actuators and replaced the emitions module with a block off plate, and then removed the air pump.
There was a slight decrease in my low end, but the high end increased quite a bit
