first engine rebuild--- ultra NOOB questions
first off, the dreaded front cover o ring... going w/ a s5 block, but s4 front cover- does this look up to par?
& second, under the oil pump, there's a dip that *looks like* it should house an oring, but I'm thinking it's for clearancing the c-clip that holds the pump "rotors" on the drive shaft. Please let me know if that's correct-
& finally-- should I silicone AND use the gasket, just use the gasket, or just use silicone?
Should be set to go after this, thanks for the help

For the first question, there is a writeup at mazdatrix about how you want to do that.
For the second, IIRC there was no o-ring there when I rebuilt mine a couple years ago. But don't take only my word on that.
For the last, your call. I think I used gasket and gray RTV and have had no leaks. I know others that have done RTV only and have no leaks. So, do whatever you are comfortable with.

I didn't see anything in the FSM about a gasket or anything for the oil pump.
Good luck!

the oil pump just goes on. remember to stick a little oil in it prior to installation.
the gaskets should be fine on there own. but if you want yo cna use silicone. i think in th eFSM it tells you all the places that should have silicone and all the places to just stick a gasket, good luck man.
