First Carbon Fiber Hood Finished!
Thanks for the kind words Node.
Those oil pedestals are ready to go now too. Just some final finishing work on them and they will be on their way to the people that ahve already bought them
Thanks for the compliments OC. I know that you are very in tune with the industry so it means that much more to us.
That frame is a bit thicker than the following ones so it is even stiffer LOL We figured that the best lower framing that we could have done is the one that Mazda figured to be the best. Funny how that works huh?
Thanks for the feedback everyone! Orders are already coming in from the website!

Wow, Looks great.
I've got a Black 88 GTU so I actually might want to get one of these but in turbo version.
I am planning to go turbo and my current hood has chips in it anyways.
It probably won't be for a month or two before I will have the money unless I sell my 88 SE.
What were the prices going to be for a TII hood?
Also would having the hood latch be extra?

That hood is amazing looking, if it looks that good in the pics it must look hella bad *** in person. As far as people complaining about price, I think that $500 is a great price for something of that quality. Can't wait to see what the turbo hood will look like. Again great job, I look forward to purchasing one from you sometime in the future.
Stupid question...but can one of these be painted? I realize that would defeat the purpose of the CF, but I love the weight saving aspect, but I dont like the CF "look" (plus I have a white car) CF looks awsome on a black car, but i dont like it on a white one, IMO.
Dave, would there be an option for fiberglass, it might not be sacrilige to paint that? Or can this be painted?

Yo,
Dave, it looks great! I feel like a big fat hypocrite 'cause I've wanted a CF hood for awhile...but I currently don't have the financing right now.
The pricing is totally in line with a CF hood. Even after the group buy, it's still a fair price for something that no one makes. Helloooo. *grin*
Someone photoshop that car red so I can see what it'll look like!

I think it looks great, especially the underside.
I had pondered the idea of making FG or CF hoods, and based solely on the fact that alot, not all, but alot of seven owners are cheap bastids who think they can get it cheaper or have "better things" to spend money on. So I figured I would have alot of people who wanted them and talked the talk, but when it came time to pay up everyone would have a story.
$500 is very cheap for these hoods. A new N/A aluminum hood from Mazda is about $800.
The amount of work that goes into a mold is what makes a part high quality.
If they were cheaper and made cheaper, people would buy them and bitch about how crappy they are, some people are never happy.

Yo,
Erik, you gave my car a toupe! *snicker*
I think it's just the reflections in the real CF hood and lighting.
Huh...I wonder if it'll look good in real life...

The scoop is molded to the hood so it looks really nice. I should have the first one of those tomorrow or Monday. I can't wait to see that too! This N/A hood that I have (#0001
) will go on my 91 vert and I will put a TII hood on the 88 GTU since I am doing it up conversion style. And Vaughnc is the first person that ordered a TII CF hood, so he will actually have the lowest sold CF TII hood that we sell
Man that looks so nice.
I just got my Greddy FMIC in today so I will probally put a order in for a NA hood
I know this maybe a stupid question but is there anyway that you could do one with that red carbon fiber? That would look so freaking awesome on my Red TII and it would be totally unique!
I have heard some people say that the red carbon fiber is crappy...but I figure the way you do it the red carbon fiber may work....hell its mainly a look good mod and if it was red it would rule!

Yo,
Dave, have you thought of selling a "shiny" CF hood? You know, where you take the hoods to a shop and they wet sand/clear coat them?
Add like $45 to the price of the hood so lazy asses like myself just have to bolt it on and start waxing it...
Does that make any sense? I think most people want a turnkey product.

I can't decide if the c/f hood will go on the TII or convertible. I was comparing a red TII vert agains my white vert - and it's a tough call. The white vert is so "pretty" it makes your heart melt. The red TII vert has the beefy muscle car look, but you loose the clean lines a bit.
From the front, the white vert with clean hood just looks so damn sweet.
