Exclamation Finished my TII swap!... but alternator wont hold charge!!

I just recently completed a full TII conversion on my 87 GXL. Everything is cool except for my alternator since it's not generating and the voltage seems to go crazy. I am using a TII engine harness w/ my stock na harness, therefore, not having the plug for the voltage regulator. Does anyone know where i can get these two wires to make this voltage reulator plug?

The car seems to hesitate and stumble b/c of the charging problems and even sometimes it runs reallly good when i finish giving the battery a good charge. I had the idiot lights on, but i got them to shut off after I ran one wire to the CPU and but i still can't find another source to make voltage regulator function properly.

Thanks,
Christian

I am using a TII computuer and a TII engine harness, but remember the TII engine harness does not bring the plug for the alternator which regulates the voltage.

No dude you went at that the wrong way. What you need to do is look at your old NA harness, where it plugged in inside the car; not to the ecu, but to the large plugs that went to the other large wiring harness inside the car.

Compare this with the current t2 wiring harness that is plugged in. Find the wire colors on the NA harness that plugged in to the alternator, and trace them to their pinouts on the plugs. You'll notice the t2 plugs have blank spots or other wires here. You need to run 2 wires of your own from teh alternator (speaker wire works fine) and splice/pin them in where they used to go, then everything will work properly. IT is about a 30 minute fix. Same for the dash temp. gauge, which if you'll notice isnt working unless you already rewired it. You have to jumper it a couple of pinouts over from where it is on the t2 harness...just compare the old harness with the t2 one and you'll figure it out in a hurry.

BTW< I have done this repeatedly.

so that's why my dash temp gauge isn't working...
damn, you should have told me that a long time ago when I was asking about it

I don't have that plug in my alternator, but my charging and what not system works fine. I've just got that one little wire that bolts to the alt. hmmmm...

oh well, it will all be cahnged this weekend. I get a fun project... swap the old N/A harness with the TII one.
