Thumbs up finally started my home-done rebuilt NA!!

i finally got off my butt and started the car today. i got a new set of NGKs and plugged them in. then, un flooded it, and it fired right up. it ran about 30 secs w/ some thottle (about 4k rpm) and died when i let off. the second time, it started right up, and ran about ten secs, and died at idle. then i did it a third time and it ran about 5 mins at 4-5k rpm. it died when i backed it down around 2.5k. ive got great oil pressure, and it should be ready to go again tomorrow. i called richard after start #3, and he said all that i was seeing was typical for a fresh start. ill hit it again tomorrow when the battery is done recharging (hence why i stopped 2nite! )

oh, and a question, it seems as if my missing link were the plugs, and after try 3, i pulled the plugs to find the rear plug (L) was fouled, and looked almost as bad as the one i just replaced. is that possible to foul it that fast? b/c i tried again, and it wouldnt start, but the battery was gettin weak, so i blamed it on that, but could it be my plug went bad already?

is all this normal behaviour for a rebuilt engine 1st time its cranked up? i talked to a few friends and they said it sounds like a vacuum leak, ill test that out tomorrow, but id like to get another opinion if i could.

Perfectly normal. Rebuilt engines have very low compression for the first couple of hundred miles. If you need to, use 2 stroke oil to raise the compression enough to start it.

Idon't know, mine started and ran fine the first time it was started after the rebuild.Maybe you have a vacuum leak or some connector unplugged.Does it run smooth when it is running.
