Finally need help...no lights

Hi everyone, I need some suggestions on what to check etc. First off I can rebuild an engine, drop in an engine do body work and generally am a good mechanic...BUT

I am an electrical idiot.

I just noticed yesterday that my running lights are no longer working as well as my brake lights and have no idea what is wrong.

Checked fuses under dash as well as the bulbs (tho obviously all of them wouldnt be burned out)

So can anyone help me out with some ideas what to check etc.

Car is an 86 GX (base) everything was working properly before and never had any electrical problems before. Car is on great condition.

What can I check/do?

Thanks for any help

Terry

hmm sounds like my running lights. I had to put some of this dielectric grease on them and they worked plus check for corossion on the light conectors. If that dosnt helkp you may have to follow the wire from the power to the tail of the car looking for a short using a voltmeter or multimeter.

Ya Icemark i read that in the FAQ (first place I looked) but the brakes and running going at the same time made/makes me think it is/was something else and was looking for things to check.

The switch looks ok on visual but I spose only trying another one will tell me for sure. wiring also looks good everywhere meaning cant see any cooked wires...I dunno ...
