Well, after months of searching, and negotiating the sale of my old car, and a few weeks of being carless altogether, I've finally got my own TII
I tried to find one through the forum, but two forum members decided not to sell their cars and someone beat me to a third one, so I decided to see what auto trader had to offer, and ended up finding an 87' TII with 80,027 miles, for a little under $3,200 and it was only 15 miles from my house!
THE GOOD:
Streetported motor (with 2k on it) runs strong, with no smoke at start up and idles between 750-850. New bronze clutch, new oem turbo. That pretty much does it for mods. It's got new window motors, a new slave cylinder, new centermount, and working power mirrors and locks. The wipers actually work at all settings and the A/C blows cold. Plus no cracks in the dash is always a good thing.
THE BAD:
The previous owner disabled the power steering by unplugging something, and the speedo no longer works, after looking through the wiring diagram I believe the two may be related. There's some body damage behind the driver and passanger side doors and behind the pass. wheel well. The previous owner's uncle (who runs a body shop) quoted me $700 for bodywork and paint though. Finally there's a hot start problem, but that will be addressed in another post.
So what's the verdict? deal, steal, or more trouble than it's worth? lol...
Pics from the seller's house:
One FTP lense was in a storage box, anyone want to donate another?
After I got her home:
Armor All, no such thing as too much, I damn near used the whole bottle! anything rubber or plastic that might ever one day see heat or sun, recieved to liberal application. (except the seal for the intercooler)

You're powersteering is probably disconnected because the speedo cable broke causing an error code, rather than listen to the beeping he probably unplugged the P/S computer (just above the steering column on the left side) Get a new speedo cable and plug the P/S cpu in......BAM powersteering.
Decent buy, welcome to the dark side!

3200 for a street ported a/c Turbo II... that's a good find if you ask me! the body work doesn't sound so bad if you can fix it for 700 and get it painted...
i had the hot start problem when i bought my TII too... i never really got to the source of that, but after i replaced my battery and cleaned the injectors, i wouldn't see that hot start problem, unless the car flooded...

classicauto: Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to check the Speedo cable (I have to take out the gauge cluster to do that don't I....Do I really need a steering wheel puller to get the wheel off?) I hope that's the problem, cuz it sounds like an easy fix. BTW I don't really mind not having the power steering, it's a lil tough in parking lots, but at speed it's not that bad, I just need my speedo back
ePH C freak: That's what I'm thinkin
I'm gonna try to get the bodywork and paint done by the end of the summer (fixing this hot start issue is priotity one) The battery that's in there now looks very generic, and not all that new, and I have no idea what the injectors look like, perhaps thats my problem too.

Steering wheel puller? Techincally? yes. In reality? no. You just have to reef on it (I mean reef, but its nothing that can't be done without a puller) be sure to thread the nut on a little bit of the way so you don't eat the horn buttons whn it lets go. On the note of reefing, Ive taken off many that slipped off like butter, but others needed coaxing, Ive worked on other types of cars the really require a puller, and the FC is butter without a puller in comparsion.

As a matter of fact, the first thing I need to do is drive back to Tallahasee for school/work from Tampa that's a good 270 miles and FHP is clearly out to get me. So a working speedo would be a big plus. I would just use the cruise control but...
Plus, the more moving needles on your dash, the cooler it looks, and seeing as how the boost gauge is out, I'm already one down

rotorforce: yea those GXL rims had me thinkin, so I checked the VIN, and sure enough it was a genuine TII. The rims might have come from the same place as the tails and gauge surround. But wherever they came from, they won't be on there too long
