Finally got my boost guage mounted

David Garfinkle (better known on the 3rd gen forums)
did most of the work on this ..

he's a bad ***, and im extremely happy with the results of his time and effort ..
great guy .. cant say enough about him ...

when i first asked him for help, he wanted to know how i planned to mount it, and since i already had the a pillar pod, i assumed we would do that ...

of course with him being crazy about fabrication ....this is what it turned out as ... and im quite pleased

let me know what you guys think .. it still needs to be painted black, but i figured i would go ahead a post some pics of it

Mines moutned like that kinda.

I didn't bother with any real mounting hardware. So it's a tad on the ugly side in my car.

tacky, looks better in a pillar pod or in the dash with no wires showing. IMO

That is definitely thinking outside the box. Great work.

That would make a great mounting point for an aftermarket tach, although I would soon as modify the whole gauge cluster with aftermarket gauges. My boost gauge is currently mounted on the steering column and centered on the tach.

I love it!!! Always great to see custom fabrication, no matter how simplistic. How much did he charge you?

yeah .. i tried to take a pic of the back, but the reflection off the windshield masked EVERYTHING ..

im still getting used to my new digi cam , so i'm gonna take a few more pics and hopefully the back will come out ..

i will say this though .. the wires, and nylon tubing are going straight into the aluminum piece, it looks very clean ..
garfinkle knows what hes doing ...

he didnt charge me anything .. when he has computer issues or needs help, that where i come in ... he takes care of me as far as the car goes ..
i know SOME ****, but hes lightyears beyond me, and he is such a nice person about it ..

top shelf!

Yeah the visual thing is not a problem at all.

I can see it no matter what.

I left mine messy because inside the vent is like 2 extra feet of vac line in case I want to put it on the pillar.

lol...that was for the benefit of those that instal tachs at that location for drag racing purposes. If you read further, you will notice that I said I would rather do something else.

that thing is totally ugly man!!!! who would ever think of something like that??? you should have gone with that nicely crafted abs plastic gauge pod man. . . you know the thin, off-colored, flimsy as an old mans pecker pod!!!! jeez, f-in fc's!!!!

Looks nice! Since you already have a white gauge which already takes away from an OEM look so I would go full out bling with a little wetsanding and polishing for a near-chrome finish.

its a white guage during the day , but the light in it makes it glow orange at night, and really ties with the rest of the guages ... it looks good IMO ...

im going to just paint the bracket and brace a nice metal black ... theres several other pieces in the interior that are already black .. like the cluster surround, so i think black will look good ..

thanks for the reponses!
