how did you go about polishing them?

reason I ask is because they dont look very shiny, with that mirror type look. im also trying to polish my IC, and what i did was go from a 320-400-600-1500grit paper, it didnt come out like i wanted but now that its nice and smooth i can do it over again and get it to a mirror like finish.

GOOD effort though, i know it is very tedious work!

check out this webpage BrightWorks that sells supplies for polishing, i might pick up some compounds from them, to get it looking REALLY professional.

this pic right here is what im aiming for, if not better! -

I used 120 then 220 then 320 wet.

I then used a semi polish/rubbing compound to help it out a bit. Then I used some red compound my father had laying around. He has some metal polish/shine stuff I'm going to add next to help it out.

It isn't perfect but this was the first time I've ever done somthing like this and it didn't come out that bad.

There were a few gouges into the metal which I couldn't get out without going too deep into the metal.

I spent the least amount of time on the TB elbow.

I spent a lot on the visible sides. The pics don't do them justice but I have a crappy late 90's Digicam.

We go up to 600 wet.... then we use sisal wheels and a special cut and color compund from caswell, then on to cotton wheels and then flannel wheels with a high color compound!! those sisal wheels are the shiznit.. they take a lot of the elbo work out of it.. just remember to keep raking the wheels cause if they load up with metal, they'll gall the part and then you have to sand again!!

We also now have every type of second and third gen UIM in stock... so if you want a polished manifold... we can send you one, you swap 'em out and then you send us your back for the core charge!!! No down time!!!!!

I pollished my uim in 4 hours to a mirror chrome shine. After I finished with 400 wet sand, I used Brillo pads with the soap on them. This shines it up great. Then after it dries off, you use the little square green scrub pads with some mother's alluminum pollish and rub it in real good. Buff it off, then go over it with some precious metal pollish with a diaper cloth and buff it off. Dont waist your time going from 80to200to400to600to5000. I started with the gasket removal wheels to take off the heavy stuff and then went to 400 wet sand.

Hmm I never used the white compound. Maybe I'll give it a once over with that.

I haven't mounted the manifolds onto my block yet.
