i have been debating on what to do with my exhaust for a while now, today i went and got an estimate for some custom piping and was amazed on how cheap it was, anyway i want to put on.... racing beat streetable (not true duals) header into a racing beat downpipe then have the exhaust place custom make 2.5" piping from there out to the back, and maybe some nice tips on the end. does anybody have this setup or similar. please tell me if ya like it or not, i have heard a 3" true duals on a TII and loved it. thanks in advance

 

The downpipe attaches to the stock exhaust manifold. If you replace the stock manifold with a header, you don't have a downpipe too. The rest of the exhaust bolts to the end of the header.
Are you going to have any mufflers in this system?
Turbos can't have true duals, since there's only one turbo outlet.

 

oh i didnt know if i buy the header i would only need the presilencer... is that correct? i do not want the cats for sure

yes i was thinking going no mufflers and see how i like it, what i meant about that on my friends TII was he has 3 inch all the way back, i said true duals but meant he has no cat or mufflers on his. my bad, thanks for the info on the headers nzconv.

yeah like he said, it's going to be ear bleeding and every cop in town will want a piece of you.

OEM Muffling on a NA car is 1) exhaust collector on the side of the engine 2) pre-cat 3) main cat 4) mufflers.

To get a nice exhaust note but not be ear bleeding, you'll need minimum a pre-silencer and GOOD muffling muffelers. Racing Beat has this exact setup.

I have a HKS setup (best exhaust note in my opinion) on my convertible, and the volume is good but does get a bit "reverbish" when the top is up and on the highway, but not too bad.

My TII has glasspack mufflers and it's definitly louder, but the cat & turbo manifold soak up enough volume that the cops don't mind.
