My 87 gxl was automatic. I converted her to 5spd manual. I broke the 5th gear/reverse switch during my last transmission install. I dont know if the auto and manuals were wired the same way to activate the reverse lights. The connnectors dont look like they fit , or am i not paying attention.

Any input pertaining to the wires between auto and manual would be appreciated.

What does the 5th gear switch do anyways. I can see how this works to engauge the reverse lights but whats it doing for the fifth gear?
