first off...what are the differences, if any, between the turbo 5spd and the gxl 5spd?

how difficult is it to rebuild these trannys? i have lots of experience rebuilding piston engines (just rebuilt and installed a lt1 in a 86 fiero) but none with trannys. should i try to do it myself or just save up and have it done?

Gear ratios, diameter of input and output shafts, number of bearings, and case design.

I wouldn't attempt it unless you have access to a hydraulic press.
