A few ?s about LSD..

Well I got my 89 GTUs diff about a week ago, and it has been sitting around for a while not being used. I drained the fluid and it was filthy, really black. I wanted to rinse the diff out with something, I was thinking about puttin kerosine in there and let it sit for a while, but wasnt sure if that would harm anything in there, like the LSD unit. Also, when refilling the diff, do I need a special LSD additive? I know for the S4 clutch type you do, but wasnt sure about the viscous LSD...
Thanks....
