A few questions about Battery wiring..
Hello all,
I am currently in the process of relocating my battery to the passenger side rear bin. I have been researching and scheming on the relocation for quite some time now and am confident I have all the materials to complete the task now.
I have mounted the battery box in the rear bin and ran 2 gauge power wire to the engine compartment. Now I am stuck with what exactly to do next.
Looking at the factory battery wiring there seems to be 3 wires coming from the battery (2 from + terminal, 1 from - terminal) and another wire from the fuse box that are all taped together and go to the starter.
My question is: What exactly do I need to rewire and what do I not need to? I was under the impression that I could run a 2 gauge from the postive terminal to the starter and an 8 gauge from the positive terminal to the fuse box. Am I missing something?
As for grounding, I am planning on running a 4 gauge from the negative terminal to a distro. block in the engine bay and then regrounding all important grounds, including starter.
Thanks a lot guys,
- Eliot

The positive wire has two wires leaving that go to three places. Main wire goes to starter, Small wire splits and goes to the fuse box and the the alternator and as long as it stays that way your fly. With ground one to the motor and one to the chassis is fine all other grounds can be made to the chassis.

Looks like a cable straight to the starter from the positive post. Then a second smaller wire from the 80amp fuse. The alternator should be seperated from the positive battery post by a FUSE.
And notice how that wire from the 80amp fuse is spliced not only to the alternator, but also goes from altermator to the ignition switch. Something like that.

Thanks a lot Hailers. That helped.
I am going to just go 2 gauge to the starter and splice an 8 gauge into the cable for the fuse box. That should take care of it.
Wish me luck.

run a 4 gauge from starter to fuse box... might as well.
and a 2 gauge ground wire from battery to nearest big bolt, sanded down around the area. no need to run a neg wire to the front

Scott:
I am doing the main battery ground in the back. The only reason I am running a negative cable to the front is so I can ground various components of the engine bay (since the factory grounding systems in the FC is awful).
