A few questions
A few questions
I just bought a 90 GXL for a grand...yes that's all. It's my third car with a 85 GSL-SE being first and a 95 Monte Carlo z34 being 2nd. The interior is perfect but the exterior is pretty ruff, there are paint chips and big scratches everywhere but no rust that i could find. The main reason i got it so cheap was because the car was broken into and now starts with any key/screwdriver, but I plan on fixing that soon I would just like to know if it's difficult. The headlamps do not pop up though. So I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times but I've been searching for a few days now and have found pretty much nothing. I'm not sure if its the switch, motors or what, but there is no sound or movement when I move the switch to pop them up. Any help for repairs (mainly the headlights because I need it to pass safety) would be awesome.
Perhaps this will be a temporary solution (if the headlights come on). Under each headlight there is a manual crank that is used to raise and lower the headlights. You could leave it in the up position until you find the problem.

Sounds like the motors MAY be bad but make sure you check all the wiring first before you put new ones in.
Also the ignition tumbler set is 300+ bucks so if you want to keep it cheap just go to a junk yard and swipe one from a car S4 or S5 will both work only 2 wires I think are different. Get the VIN number from the car you took it from. Go to a mazda repair shop and ask them to make you a key and give them the VIN of the junkyard car. That is a really cheap way of fixing the problem as the ignition is a pocket item at the junk yard. The only downside is that the key for the ignition will be different from the rest of the car.

I've asked the mazda dealer close by and they gave me a 220 quote with the switch but the nearest one is ontario so shipping will jack the price up. My friend can get me that too from the car I think, so the cost shouldn't be to bad. I'll give the wiring a look at before work or tomorrow morning.
Okay, I looked at the wiring and i think it's okay. I tried the manual cranks again and it loosened the passenger side headlight so now it works just fine. When I tried the driver's side the screw thing just unscrewed out. I put it back in as tight as i can but it still just unscrews. Is there a way to fix it or do I have to take off the light, which i have no idea on how to do (I tried for over an hour)

The light is easy it is like 4 screws or something like that. No need to disassemble the headlamp unit the light will pop right out after you remove the screws.
