1) starting in 2ed gear good/bad
2)8500 rpms in 1st
3)red lineing car alot
4)car has 155,xxx miles
5)good compression
6)am i hutring my engine

2nd gear starts will just eat your clutch a little faster, because you'll have to slip it more to get her rolling...

155K? Sooner or later one of your 8500 rpm romps are going to "roll" one of the OEM apex seals outta there...

Read a lot of threads here, you'll notice a LOT of problems start after a hard run on high mileage engines. And with 155K on her, I'd guess you have somewhere around .5 mil of apex seal wear to go before you hit limits (I had .3 mil to go when I rebuilt her at 186,000, and I too like to romp, but not at 8500 rpms...)

This depends on your definition of hurting the car. I will say that your car will not last much longer doing this, but then again at 155,000 miles you need to start thinking about a rebuilt anyway.

 

no i dont do 8500 rpms in first i was just woundering if it will hurt the engine and i dont take it much past 5-6000 rpms and i was just wondering about 2ed gear starts

 

Why would anybody want to start in 2nd?
