2. major power hangup at 3.5K -4K rpms
---when i hit 3 grand there is a power hangup that actualy makes it feel like the car is slowign down..my one friend said it was some kidn of ground problem that he has heard of before..any advice?
3. shift lever with no guts
---the jackass that had my car before me managed to take the shift lever out and not but any of the guts (bushings exc.) back in thusly the feels liek crap and doesnt exactly work well...anyeon knwo a site where i can find a bushings kit or whatever kit i woudl need to fix this, or would a shot shift kit fix the problem just as well??
thnx for any help you can give

mazdatrix is a good source for getting the bushings/etc, as for the short shifer, there's not many suppliers that I've seen, there's a DIY short shifter how-to somewhere on the forum, don't remember where. As for the 3500-4000rpm hangup, that's usually two problems. A) your engine grounds are bad, simple solution is to just run some new grounds using a decent gauged wire B) your secondary injectors are dirty, run some injector cleaner through or just get them professionaly cleaned. Now, coolant problems aren't a good sign, i'd swap thermostats, get the radiator flushed, and look for leaks (even a pinhole size leak can cause problems) Get it pressure tested if you must. If that solves it, yeehaw! If that doesn't solve it, chances are your coolant seals are going bad, which inevitably means a rebuild.

1. you have a bad rad cap, replace it with a new Mazda factory original.
2. the 3800 RPM hestitation is very common and has been covered quite a few times, you may wish to use the search function found up in the upper right hand corner of this page. But the long and short of it, the problem is generally related to poor ground on the engine and battery. You should replace and/or upgrade them. occasionally on some cars there is also a transistor failure in the ECU, but in 90% of the cases fixing the engine grounds solves the problem
3. Just get a bushing set from mazdatrix or on ebay. The bushing replacement swap is very easy and should take less than $40 and maybe an hour of your time. here is a good write up on it: http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/shiftbsh.htm
