a few issues (wiring)
ok so i recently purchased an 87 NA and i figured out theres a few things that barely, or wont, work.
brake lights. now im pretty sure its just a short circuit but i wanna make sure.when you press the pedal they dont turn on and blow the fuse but it occasionally wont blow the fuse. so idk what to make of it. but the taillights alone work.
another problems the gas gauge. i think its a problem with the float but again, just making sure.. it only works till about 3/4 of a tank. then it shows it on E. its annoying having to guess when i needa get gas.
another issue is the wipers. they only work on the second setting: INTERVAL [FAST] REALLY FAST. idk what to make of that at all.
also, the AC/heater. the fan wont even run but theres power getting to it believe cuz i hear the solenoid next to it clicks when i turn it on. but the fan wont run at all.
any help on any of these would be greatly appreciated

If you want to isolate the problem with the brake lights you can try and disconnect the 4 wire plug from the bottom of the CPU which has the following wires. W/G, Y/R, B, and Green. You have some different things you could do to check this and that. After disconnecting the plug you could press on the brake and see if there is voltage going to the plug you removed on the W/G wire. The W/G wire gets voltage when the brake is depressed as it receives voltage from the G/W wire that is a constant voltage wire. The voltage passes onto the W/G at the brake switch located on the brake pedal. If you could do this over and over w/o popping the fuse then this tells you that the brake switch is not the problem or its associated wiring.
Another thing you could do is to jumper the G/W wire in the brake switch to the Green wire in the disconnected plug. This will cause the brake lights to light up. If you can do this a series of times then the wiring and lights after the CPU are in good order. Doing this jumper bypasses the brake switch so it does not need to be involved in this particular test as the voltage from the G/W wire in the brake switch is constant.
If both of these tests work w/o popping the fuse then the culprit is the Brake Warning board in the CPU. If it is the culprit then it needs to be either esoldered or replaced.
Your wiper problem is an internal one which needs to have new relays installed to address the problem. Pele, who is a club member, fixes these for a small fee. PM him for details.
Make sure the 7.5 amp Meter fuse is good as one thing that could be the cause of your blower problem.

Good info, but just a point of clarification; the thermo sensor is for the"low fuel" warning light, not the fuel level gauge. If the gauge is acting erratic first make sure there is not a physical blockage in the tank ...like the ground write to a new fuel pump.....lol
