Few issues after dropping in rebuilt motor

My idle was a bit high on first startup(1600-1700). I adjusted the screw the the top and that lowered it. But I believe it to be a bit too high even though I adjusted the screw already to the max(turned it right). My idle when warmed up now is 1150. I don't have any vacuum leaks. Only thing I can think of is my timing being off a bit(didn't adjust timing yet). But not sure if that can account for the idle being so high.

Second issue is my temp gauge. I noticed even after warm up, my temp gauge would read only 1/8. Basically the lowest the needle can go without going below the bottom line. I don't believe that to be normal... I made sure to clean the temp sensor that goes above the oil pressure sender. and I have the sensor plugged to the thermo housing plug. Also installed a new thermostat. This is really bugging me and I really want to get it fixed.
