Thumbs up FD twin turbo eng in my N/A FC

Hi guy's

I am in the works of fitting an 13B RE twin turbo in my N/A 1988 FC.

Did any of you guy's hear or even do this transplant before ??

I am patiently wating to receive my 13B twin turbo.
any comments advice or thing's that you know will go wrong that I should look for ??

I will need CPU and harness what else ???
Will my trany directly bolt to this new engine after all it's a 13B ??

Any advice would be appreciated.

I agree... 13bt might be a lot easier... the TT is gonna have that nasty web of vacuum hoses unless you paralleled the turbos and im sure other things will make the installation more difficult as well. Also I don't think an NA tranny would work so great with a 13b

the REW is the FD engine
the RE is the 2 rotor cosmo engine
pretty much the same, except I think slightly different ports (I believe exhaust) and the RE has less hp if my mem serves correctly, REW is also a newer engine, the RE came out in 90 (is that right?)

I think the intake ports on the FD are also larger.

Actually, the 13B-RE and REW have the same primary/secondary intake ports and the same exhaust ports.

The 13B-RE will bolt in EASIER than the 13B-REW.

ONE motor mount in the RE has to be slightly modified if memory serves me correctly.

Do a SEARCH - I just went through all the costs to put a 13B-REW (FD engine) into an NA FC - it's not cheap; we're talking on the order of $10,000 to get it installed.

If we're talking 13B-RE Cosmo motor, it's a little bit cheaper, but not by much.&nbsp You're still looking at a $5,000+ job.&nbsp The stock ECU is useless; you'll need to go with a stand-alone EMS, unless you convert to single turbo - then the stock FC turbo ECU might be able to control it.

The whole drivetrain will need to be replace - that kinda power levels is going to break all your NA drivetrain parts.

Maybe you should of asked this question before you decided to get the motor! Unless you have LOTS of cash.

RE has LARGER ports (secondaries are simular in size as 20b, BIG!!) and higher flowing intake manifold / plenum.

Ted, why is putting a RE cheaper than a REW engine in?
Let's just say we have the drivetrain and ecu like haltech to run it.

Cosmo engines end up being "drop-in" with the use of K2RD engine mounts. http://www.k2rd.com/

The 13B-REW engine from an FD has vastly different engine mounts that require a custom subframe to be attached (or welded) onto the existing engine carrier of the FC.&nbsp I am not aware of anyone offering a 13B-REW FD engine drop-in engine mount kit for the FC.

I did the REW swap without getting a custom subframe... and got it mounted in for alot less than buying the Cosmo mounts...(if it were an RE engine that is)

Id stick with a 13BT if you want to see the car run anytime soon. Even the 13B-RE, which drops right in with the k2rd mounts, has a few obstacles you have to take on. The 13B-RE throttle body elbow wont clear the power steering, the throttle sensor is FD style, blah. Im too lazy to list all the differences. But, Id stick with a 13BT, its much easier to get new and used parts for and can put it together for much cheaper.

Thank's for all your comments more work than expected and not worth the hassle for a street car

By the way the engine is from a friend who had bought it for his 3rd gen but scraped the car before having the time to install it.
Not a big hassle just called him and told him the project is dead he already had an other buyer for it if i did not take it
again thank's to you all
