I believe it matches up to the bellhousing, but the clutch arrangement on the FD is a pull type, and the driveshaft certainly won't fit.

Not really...
It's just an FC turbo gear box with some minor refinements.

The pull-type clutch is inferior to the push-type, so I don't see this as an upgrade.

It's not really drop-in, as the shifter lever position changes due to the shorter transmission.

and the PPF is another issue to deal with as there is no subframe mount to mount into an FC.

I've never heard a qualitative comparison between the two before. What makes you say the pull-type is inferior? I do know that it's harder to change the clutch on them. My friendh as a pull-type on his eclipse and you have to disengage the throwout bearing with a screwdriver somehow before you drop the transmission... it's a huge bitch

Show me a competition level clutch that uses a pull-type pressure plate?

Even OS Giken, one of most well-known performance clutch builders in Japan has conversion kits for the FD pull-type pressure plates and converts them to push-type.

What type of pressure plate does Quartermaster make?
Ram?
Quaiffe?
These are just some of the companies that make high performance clutches for racing applications in the U.S.
Guess what kind of pressure plate they make for racing use only?

Soooo... if there is a push type conversion kit floating around for the FD tranny -

Could you use the conversion kit and switch to an FC clutch?

The flywheels are the same and I don't have an FD tranny convenient to see if the throwout bearing could be interchanged.

For the price you can buy or sell a good used FD trans you can buy 2 good T2 trans's.

Not including shipping

I don't know what you're trying to ask?

You're asking if you can use an FC trans with an FD flywheel?

Or...

If you can use an FD trans with an FC clutch kit with an FD flywheel?

OK - so the most important question is WHY?!?!?!!? iirc the ratios are identical & the FD trans has that annoying 5th gear syncro problem.... so WHY?

I was asking if I can use an FC clutch in an FD - if I used one of the pull to push converters similar to OS Giken (I've never physically seen what the conversion kit looks like).

It's the same cause they both basically use the same internals.

I hate it when people do this, cause...
A tranny abused with just 200hp will break.
A tranny babied with 600hp with still hold together.
If you're going to drag race with it, reliability goes down after 400hp+...
