FD intake on TII?
FD intake on TII?
What all do I need to run an FD intake manifold on an TII?
I'm planning on going haltech and TO4 on a SP T2 motor. I want to run an FD intake and need to know what all is involved in performing the swap.
Soul Assassin? I know you did this.
Thanks,
Mike

I'm doing this on my Halteched 87 TII. I used a 89+ Lower Intake Manifold (LIM) as the bolt pattern is closer to the 93+ Upper Intake Mani (UIM) and it has slightly bigger runners than my 87 LIM.
What I did was put the 89+ gasket on the 93+UIM using the one hole they have in common to line it up and cut the gasket to match the runners on the 93+ UIM as well as mark the UIM to the outer edge of the 89+ gasket in other places and mark the bolt holes. Then I put the cut 89+ gasket on the 89+ LIM and market the new gasket edge. Doing this you have marks where to cut each manifold to in order to have the runners and bolt holes match up.
While I was at it I removed the secondary vacuum throttle plates and the "bridge" for them in the UIM and polished the full length inside of the runners on all manifolds w" a 10" rod in a die grinder split for emery cloth at the end. I roughed the LIM up again below the injectors to avoid excessive manifold whetting. I also polished/smoothed transitions in the Throttle Body (TB).
Areas I worked a bit more on included the lower end of the 89+ LIM primary runners. There are big intrusions from the center bolt boss that can really be cut out. Another is making the 93+ UIM primaries as large as the 89+ as far as you can (up to the bend) and then decreasing the angle of the inner radius on that bend. I tapered the back edge of the TB to an edge and rounded out the edges on the front. I port matched all the pieces out to the gaskets as well. I did leave the intrusion from the ACV that is in one of the LIM primary runners for the moment; I will see how much it is to weld some material on the back side so I can cut that out. Good luck, have fun-I know I did! Ian
