How hard is it to put one of these in or is it a direct replacement?

 

I believe it is a direct replacement, however you can probably get an aftermarket pump that is better for less money.

 

It takes 15 minutes. I am running an FD pump, $50 isn't too bad.

Just installed a tII pump in the s/c vert- not to hijack, but will this be enough to support 9psi of boost? If not, I may go FD...

But I do know alot of people use FD fuel pumps to support reasonable amounts of power.

With the Paxton unit I see alot of Walbros and FD pumps, but to tell you the truth I'm not 100% sure.

I beleive the most successful build that I know of (PianoProdigy's) ran a FD pump.

The FD pump is really solid in terms of reliability. I have one in my old car which has at least 140k on it.

 

just buy a supra pump and call it a day

It drops in directly for a Kouki FC.
For a Zenki FC, I think you need to lengthen the hose - very minor.

The FD fuel pump flows about 10% to 15% more than an FC turbo fuel pump.

You'd be lucky to get a better pump cheaper, as used FD pumps are dirt cheap. Plus if you install a "better" pump (assuming you mean a Walbro or similar) you'll need either an adjustable FPR or some sort of fuel control, because the base fuel pressure will be increased by a lot more.

 

Denso makes both the FD pump and the Supra pump, in addition to our stock fuel pumps. Denso pumps generally have a better reputation (and deservedly so) than Walbros.

In my own experience, the Walbro got the job done for my 250whp setup but the whining was irritating.

 

My FD pump got me up to 300rwhp. I'm running Walbro now; I kinda of like to hear the pump start because I know its working instead of hunting it down.
