FD Alternator Setup

I bought a FD alternator a while ago and i just got around to installing it yesterday. It works great, i constantly have 13.5+ volts. MY question is that after i installed it all of the lights on the warning panel are on and they stay on, and when i floor it the volt meter drops down to 10 volts, then when i let go it goes right back up to 13.5. What could be causeing these problems.

Thanks
Dan

you probably have the wires crossed at the plug... thats what mine did, when i reversed them I got about 14.8 volts and the llights in the warning panel stayed off

Dan, I'm glad you have received your FD Alternator...

As for your existing problem, has It changed? As rexn2o has mentioned, the wiring up to the Voltage Regulator appears to be Incorrect.

If you look at the back of the FD Harness Plug, you will see 2 wires coming out of the Harness Plug. On the left side, this Is the side that will be on the Driverside when you plug In the Harness Plug, goes the stock Black/thin White stripe wire. On the right side, goes the White/thin Black stripe Wire. This Is the setup for your s4 na.

As always should be done, besure to cut, solder, shrink tube and wrap your connections.

Let me know once you've triple checked or/and corrected the wiring Dan.

The warning lights went off after you reversed the wiring to the Voltage Regulator?

Did you use a DMM? When you performed the test, were you cruising and noticed this observation?
