FD alt woes
So here I thought wiring the FD alt would be the hardest thing to do on my S4. I was not thinking when I was mounting the alt, but to put it simply: I lost the black plastic piece that goes between the alt mount and the thermo housing (which keeps the alt from sliding back and forth on its little mounting bolt) so I put a little rubber ring in its place. I was tightening the bolt not watching it (just waiting for it to 'feel' like it was snug) and I end up pulling the nut out of the FD alt.
That probably did not make sense, so ill put up some pics later. Anyway, the alt can sorta slide freely back and forth (but the bolt isnt going to come out without cutting the bolt I think). So im wondering if I should go ahead and do this right (cutting off the bolt, buying another one and mounting it correctly), or if I should go ahead and just put the belt on, tighten the adjusting bolt, and be done with it. Not sure that it will end up causing a problem, but im wondering if the vibrations from the engine revving high could vibrate the alternator, move it, and possibly cause the belt to come off.
