All RX-7's have oil coolers stock (some even have 2) as they are a major part of the cooling of the engine. It actually has its own section in the FSM (in the lubrication chapter.) I'm not sure how its even running without it hooked up.

Don't run it without the oil cooler, all of the rotors cooling comes from the oil cooler.

yeah i've been in contact with the supplier he was just playing dum says he didnt know he also failed to mention it needed a new clutch. so i'll be tryin to claim money back for that but as he's in japan dont know how far i'll get. i set aside money for rebuild and such cos i knew thers a risk factor in importing cant test drive it can ya. its been compression tested everything seems fine there. diffs ok tranny seems good only gripes are clutch and oil cooler if i hadnt spotted that i could have really fucked my car!

Every rotary-powered car ever made by Mazda came with an oil cooler. The engine will not run for long without one.
