fc3s 4500rpm is a brick wall

Hey guys my car will run fine make full power do everything it should untill about 4500 when it basically flat lines and will slowly drone on into higher revs , when it does this the boost guage can sometimes spike up to as high as 18psi everything is standard except intake and exhaust. I am thinking I may have a faulty wastegate my question is has anyone experienced similar if so what was it and if it is the wastegate anyone know any easy tests. All help appreciated.

Are you telling us that you held the gas pedal down at 18psi all the way to redline???

Your engine still runs? Do you have a RB FCD? RteK? HKS F-con?

I smell blown engine....

If you don't have an FCD, you need not buy one now. I think you should probably go buy a compression tester, and find faith.........

compression test 98psi three even bounces both housings the same, engine has only done 20000km, and no I did not hold it flat to the board I have taken it up to about 5 but I assume it would be the same at higher rpm. Thanks anyway guys I think I will palm it off to a trained proffessional.

the FSM does give a test to see if your wastegate is working. it is fairly easy with two people but kindof a run around if you are only working on your car alone.

i believe it is in the Fuel / Emissions section on pg-54... pg 50-60 ^_^ somewhere in there.

take care,
TR

If the car isn't going HELLA FAST when it starts shooting to 18psi, it's most likely an ignition problem...
Overly retarded ignition timing can cause boost to shoot through the roof, but the car doesn't make a lot of power.
Double check your spark plug wire positions to make sure they are correct.
Also, double check ignition timing to make sure that is in spec.
You might want to also check the spark plugs and spark plug wires to ensure they are in good shape and not arcing.
