what causes the shifter to get stuck in first gear? ive changed all the shifter bushings, but when im in first gear i have to move shifter to the right and then pull down to second. its getting worse and starting to mess me up at the autocross. ive learned pretty much everything on the rest of the car, might as well learn how to fix this. by the way, its an n\a tranny out of an 87.

Stuck in first? Never had that problem. How have you been fixing it? Try letting the car roll back or forward a foot or so and see if it comes out. Does it happen in your reverse gear also? Maybe your clutch cylinders are going bad?

it isnt stuck like that, when your driving you have to move the shifter to the right and then jerk it back into second. real pain in the ***. if you try to shift like normal it just catches and wont come out of 1st.
