This is some what on track. More than some of your guys bitching

How much do you think the NA S4 LSD rear end would be able to hold? You think it can take a few launches?

It's held up to some NA power launches pretty well and some drift moves.

I've got the hybrid drive shaft from Mazdatrix so I have a TII engine and tranny but NA LSD rearend.

what wears out a diff is not the raw tourque, rather the tourque SPLIT it has to create. if it only takes a littly bit more tourque to keep one wheel spining at the same rate as the other, little wear will be incurred (ie going strait on uniform pavement) however forcing the diff to provide a huge tourque split (drifting, burnouts, hard driving on inconsistent pavement) will cause it to induce more tourque split and thus more wear.

That is the main reason I will be locking my spare S4 open diff center...

When the LSD center starts to wear out you could kill your diff quite quickly for reasons the above poster has pointed out.

But.... Lockers aren't for everyone..

Is the Series 4 N/A diff a clutch type like the turbo version?

I believe so. I forgot what the S4 LSD is (Viscous/something/etc) and is said to wear out around 80k.

The car has 102k on it but the LSD worked(I know )

Anyways your saying as longh as I don't drift it too much or do burnouts and such my rearend should hold up for a while right?

This is funny thread. I had Nittos 555r in the back and was getting 2.1 60ft times my first 2 recorded tries. Now I have dumped my clutch at 6k , 7k , 8k and 9k rpms in all kinds of different pavements grabing so hard sometimes that I would bog after dumping clutch hard at 7k. By the way. I was runing 160rwp and 140ft of torque if I remember correctly wich is more than stock by far...I bought another tranzmission later after I messed up the last one installing a clutch. Even that clutch lasted more drags than I can remember. Then you hear about somone breaking their stock tranny doing nothing at all. Go figure. It just depends how well the things been previously treated probly and how well its installed/alligned exc.
