FC in RX-8 brochure
I picked up the Road and Track RX-8 brochure last night. Did anyone else read the article about the Rod Millen SCCA pro rally FC? He raced a couple of FCs, one even had AWD. The whole racing section in the brochure gives a good idea of what the rotary engine has accomplished in racing history; but i particularly liked the rally section. Has anyone else been bit by the AWD bug?

Yeah, the tube frame makes the room for the AWD, hella cool if you ask me. I'd sure like to see the drive train layout on that beast. A transversely mounted rotary perhaps? I wonder what part of the car they kept.

Eventually, (years away) I am planning on making an AWD FC. But, I wanted to use to 13B's. maybe one in the front and one in the rear. or either try to find a used ZZII.

Eh, I think the Rear-Drive setup is the best for a Rotary.
Since AWD really reacts at low speeds with lots of torque (like Subarus). I mean some at higher speeds, but the rotary is such a top end *****, all the fun is the the rear wheels, IMHO.

REamemiya made an AWD FC. I belive it was a 20b. There are pics, and info of it here and on teamfc3s. It's sitting under a tarp, outside, behind the shop rusting away.

I dont know why everyone always drools over AWD. I mean for a rally situation, and/or slippery roads (rain/snow)yea of course its better. But for 99% of the applications RWD is far better (IMO of course) You can get just as much traction from a launch provided you have the appropriate wheels/tires/suspension setup. Once you get rolling, alls the AWD does is slow you down. (of course there are systems to get around this , IE the GTR Skyline where the AWD can be disabled and proportioned) AWD doughnuts sure are fun though
