Hello all. Anyone know where I can find or source two fc rear subframe bolts?
assuming they may come with the crossmember if even that can be sourced. If anyone is willing to cut them out for me from a parts car and ship them not really concerned about price as I don’t have space to buy and store a parts car. Even a part number would help.
If you are talking about the 2 studs which come off the body vertically down with the large ~21-24mm nuts which secure the rear subframe to the chassis, there is an old thread floating somewhere on rx7club on how to replace them, and what with.
Yessir the 14x1.5 studs that go through the rear floor pan. I’ve read multiple threads but could only find sourcing them by breaking the spot welds and pulling them out from under the sheet metal covering the heads on the interior on a parts car.
Trying to find a way to source them or find someone that would be willing to take them out a parts car.
Man thank you! That first thread is super interesting still reading up on it trying to figure what the end result will be. Lol definitely wish they were sourcable or at least a few specifications noted for the bolt other than thread pitch. I will definitely keep you posted I’ve got the subframe back up at 70 ft lbs hopefully doesn’t move.
i chased them with a die luckily they torqued to spec although spec is 2 ft lbs away I believe 72-84. Here’s a look at mine. Need my front floor pan repaired going to have the same restoration shop take care of these two bolts as well with a full frame restoration.
Just throwing out there the idea of having those studs measured to be recreated by a machinist.
I’m a mechanical engineer so definitely entertain the idea of modeling it. Figure the knurled section would be the most difficult section to machine, but think there could be another solution to keeping the stud from rotating (hex head or similar). Probably 400 series stainless.
lathe for most operations, then mill a hex head.
just an idea for someone in the next 20 years…

A hex head would make replacing them so much easier relieving having to beat the spot welds off the old bolt or having to re-weld a new bolt in. Genius. I’ll definitely see if I can get someone to get them from a parts car otherwise I’ll have to find a similar stud from McMaster carr if possible.
if someone can get one of these studs in my hands I can reverse engineer it, make a drawing for everyone, and machine up a few sets for people.
i have a guy that will eventually take ones from his donor for me. I can definitely reach out once I get them in my hands could be a couple months before I get them.
that would be awesome! Wouldn’t hurt to have spare/brand new studs

sounds good, and I'll make a drawing for it so anyone can go to any machine shop and get some made.
